Ever thought about transforming your life through the power of music? Singing with Honley MVC can be a truly life-changing experience. You’ll not only learn new skills and grow in confidence as your voice develops, but you’ll also share plenty of laughs and make lifelong friends along the way.

No pressure, no embarrassing moments, no solo singing, no nerve-wracking auditions, and no need to read music. You’ll gradually pick up everything you need to know as your experience and confidence grow.

If you can pick a note and hold a tune, you’re all set! If you think you’d like to sing with us, just come along to a rehearsal and see what we’re all about – you’ll be warmly welcomed.

Rehearsals are every Tuesday from 7.15pm to 9.30pm at St. Paul’s Church, Armitage Road, Armitage Bridge, HD4 7PD.

Thanks to everyone at Barnett Waddingham’s Leeds Office who raised money for the Choir at their April 2024 coffee morning event which included a raffle, quiz and plenty of home baked goodies. An amazing £347 was raised at the event and with matched funding of £250 the grand total raised was £597.

We have been awarded grant assistance 2024 from One Community towards our ongoing running costs. 

Chris Flanagan (Fundraising Officer – Honley MVC) is quoted as saying – “We are delighted to receive this generous award from One Community’s Thornton Family Fund. Like many ‘not-for-profit’ organisations, we have limited resources.  The costs associated with our weekly rehearsal venue and professional fees represent a sizeable proportion of our annual expenditure.

The Choir is deeply embedded in the local community. Beyond our performances, we engage in various community events and activities, contributing to the social and cultural fabric of Honley and the surrounding areas. Our commitment to community engagement reflects the choir’s broader ethos of using music as a means of bringing people together and enriching lives.

This award will not only provide valuable support to the Choir by contributing to the wellbeing, health and social interaction of the singing membership, but will also enable the Choir to meet its overall charitable aims and objectives of extending its community involvement, thereby benefitting the wider local community.”

Choir benefit from funding from One Community’s Thornton Family Fund

Nominations are open until 17 December 2023. It’s best to nominate as early as possible to get into all three draws. Draws are scheduled for June, September and December 2023 however, you can nominate at any time up until the closing date and you’ll be entered into all remaining draws.

Movement for Good provides donations to charities for well-being community projects. Honley MVC asks that you nominate us for such a possible donation.
